About the role
The Assistant Manager is a key position within the store, supporting the Store Manager in achieving all company goals and initiatives. This includes driving sales, developing talent, and ensuring execution across the board.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Manager on Duty, taking on responsibilities when the Store Manager is absent.
- Works alongside all levels of employees, acting as a positive role model and fostering a high standard of integrity for the brand.
- Aids and coaches Sales Associates during their shifts, ensuring compliance with company SOPs and promoting open communication and teamwork.
- Manages rest and meal breaks, ensuring coverage across all zones.
- Fosters a positive work environment and provides direct, honest feedback to team members.
- Assists the Store Manager in managing merchandise presentations, signage, and displays, and escalates performance concerns as needed.
- Motivates and inspires the team to build brand loyalty and maintain a positive atmosphere for both internal and external customers.
- Assists with store security, including bag checks and fitting room monitoring, and ensures adherence to Loss Prevention procedures.
- Treats staff professionally, courteously, and respectfully, and collaborates with team members on planning and executing floor sets.
- Cultivates an environment of open communication and teamwork, representing the company in a professional and positive manner.
- Shares knowledge and best practices for sales, merchandising, stocking, and inventory processes with the team.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of manager experience in a specialty retail store with relevant traffic and volume.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, & PowerPoint, and ability to adapt to additional software programs.
- Broad knowledge and perspective of the retail landscape.
- Must be available to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
- Must commit to two store closings per week, including one being Friday or Saturday.
- Ability to utilize retail POS System & Inventory Scanner.
- Ability to make change using American Monetary units.
- Understanding and interpretation of moderately complex financial reports.
- High School Diploma required or General Education Degree (GED).
- Ability to carry out detailed tasks and projects with minimal direction or supervision.
- Problem-solving complex situations in an effective and efficient manner, including dealing with difficult and/or troubled clients.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships.
- Expresses ideas clearly and succinctly via email, memos, and reports.
