About the role
The State Auditor’s Office is seeking Assistant State Auditors to conduct assessment audits of small local governments. Team School Programs is one of 17 local audit teams, focusing on school districts and small local governments.
Duties
- Assistant State Auditor 1: First level of the in-training program for staff with minimal audit experience. Includes classes, on-the-job training, and work product review and feedback.
- Assistant State Auditor 2: Second level of the in-training program, continuing to build upon experience gained through work as an Assistant State Auditor 1 or similar work. Opportunities to plan and conduct audits under supervision.
- Assistant State Auditor 3: Journey level, responsible for planning and conducting risk-based financial and legal compliance audits, and performing special investigations. Reviews work and mentors in-training staff.
Qualifications
- Assistant State Auditor 1: Bachelor’s degree with 3 college-level accounting courses, or 4 years of business experience with 1 year in accounting/auditing.
- Assistant State Auditor 2: Bachelor’s degree with 3 college-level accounting courses and 1 year of relevant experience, or 5 years of business experience with 2 years in accounting/auditing.
- Assistant State Auditor 3: Bachelor’s degree, 3 college-level accounting courses, 1 year of accounting and 1 year of auditing experience, or 6 years of relevant experience with 2 years in accounting and 1 year in auditing.
