Core Responsibilities
- Aids in supervision of the athletic weight room.
- Aids in supervision of Graduate Assistants, Interns, and Work Study Students.
- Aids in the cleanliness and upkeep of the athletic weight room and equipment.
- Travels with designated sport team or teams when in-season.
- Communicates with sports medicine staff daily.
- Communicates with the sport coach or coaches daily.
- Aids in the design, implementation, and supervision of the year-long strength and conditioning programs designated by the immediate supervisor.
- Aids in the supervision of the athletic weight room.
- Aids in the cleanliness and upkeep of the athletic weight room and equipment.
- Monitors athlete performance using testing data and performance metrics.
- Modifies training programs based on competition schedules, recovery needs, and rehabilitation progress.
- Keeps accurate records of athlete attendance, progress and performance data.
- Stays current with industry research and best practices in sports performance.
- Plans and monitors athlete workloads using a high-low training model to strategically alternate high-intensity and low-intensity training days, promoting performance gains while managing fatigue and reducing injury risk.
- Covers for other staff members as needed.
- Coordinates strength and conditioning sessions with on-field or on-court practices to ensure training loads complement, rather than compete with, sport-specific demands.
- Maintains a safe and effective program implementation.
- Ensures consistent athlete engagement and attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Nationally Accredited Certification as required by the NCAA.
- One (1) year of related work experience.
- CPR and Basic First Aid Certification.
