Assistant Softball Coach

Duties And Responsibilities

• Review of the program and student-athlete achievement for improvement of coaching methods and procedures
• Complete the NAIA Coaching with Character exercise, and ensure all assistants have also completed the program on a yearly basis
• Sustain a roster of high quality and competency
• Maintain official athletic documentation
• Represent the university at appropriate community and sporting events
• Assignments issued by the head coach which may include but are not limited to:
• Sport specific coaching at team, positional, and individual levels
• Recruiting student-athletes
• Scouting games
• Practice preparation
• Transportation arrangements
• Updating statistics
• Helping with the scheduling of games and practices
• Potential driving of athletes/team to functions or competitions
• Be supportive of the head coach at all times in dealing with the students and the public
• Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing clinic(s), summer camp(s), and on-campus tryouts
• Inform head coach of any student related problems
• Treat all salary, budget, and grant information as highly confidential
• Aid students with the integration of the academic, spiritual, and social dimensions of the university
• Aid the coach in developing and maintaining a harmonious attitude
• Build and maintain rapport with students, faculty, and staff
• Maintain good relations with the public at all times
• Maintain a player-coach relationship with the students
• Maintain, and report problems to the head coach, any problems with facilities, equipment, or transportation
• Provide information to business office to permit driving of school vehicles and adequate liability coverage
• Adequately supervise for athletes
• Assume other related responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in coaching
• Commitment to the mission of Mount Marty University
