Duties And Responsibilities
- Review of the program and student-athlete achievement for improvement of coaching methods and procedures
- Complete the NAIA Coaching with Character exercise, and ensure all assistants have also completed the program on a yearly basis
- Sustain a roster of high quality and competency
- Maintain official athletic documentation
- Represent the university at appropriate community and sporting events
- Assignments issued by the head coach which may include but are not limited to:
- Sport specific coaching at team, positional, and individual levels
- Recruiting student-athletes
- Scouting games
- Practice preparation
- Transportation arrangements
- Updating statistics
- Helping with the scheduling of games and practices
- Potential driving of athletes/team to functions or competitions
- Be supportive of the head coach at all times in dealing with the students and the public
- Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing clinic(s), summer camp(s), and on-campus tryouts
- Inform head coach of any student related problems
- Treat all salary, budget, and grant information as highly confidential
- Aid students with the integration of the academic, spiritual, and social dimensions of the university
- Aid the coach in developing and maintaining a harmonious attitude
- Build and maintain rapport with students, faculty, and staff
- Maintain good relations with the public at all times
- Maintain a player-coach relationship with the students
- Maintain, and report problems to the head coach, any problems with facilities, equipment, or transportation
- Provide information to business office to permit driving of school vehicles and adequate liability coverage
- Adequately supervise for athletes
- Assume other related responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in coaching
- Commitment to the mission of Mount Marty University
