Responsibilities

  • Function as the overall Site Manager during off rotation for the Site Manager.
  • Aid in developing scopes of work for review and approval.
  • Aid in the development and management of project schedule.
  • Prepare estimates in areas of self-performed work and assist in complete project estimate.
  • Assist in the selection of qualified bidders, negotiate final prices, draft subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Aid in the preparation of various reports, such as cost to complete, monthly billings and status reports, progress tracking.
  • Review all drawings, including shop, architectural, structural, etc., when issued to the field and coordinate and maintain a current set at all times.
  • Study specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
  • Aid in locating, evaluating, and selecting potential subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers as it relates to the General Conditions budget.
  • Aid in pricing work, draft changes and change orders and ensure customer satisfaction with the project.
  • Aid in coordinating and managing on-site construction activities from pre-startup to completion.
  • Schedule work, including subcontractors. Determine materials, equipment and tools needed. Secure appropriate supply sources. Set up and close out construction site.
  • Establish and maintain high safety and quality standards in accordance to company and industry standards.
  • Resolve issues and act on behalf of management while keeping the financial impact of decisions in mind as it relates to potential out of scope items.
  • Procure tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specification, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel to resolve complaints and grievances within work force.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjust work schedules as indicated by reports.
  • May provide expert advice as it relates to a specific division of work.
  • Meet with the customer and refer all customer requested changes to the SM and PM for proper disposition.
  • Work with city officials, OSHA, and inspectors throughout the duration of the project.
  • Ensure required inspections are conducted per the project specifications and documents and proper documentation is kept.
  • Communicate, implement and enforce Gray’s safety program on site.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school AND a minimum of three years of construction experience OR a minimum five years related construction experience with increasing responsibility in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience within the light/heavy industrial sector, especially within the food and beverage market, highly desired.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to utilize Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), tablets and smartphones.
  • MS project and other scheduling software a plus.
  • The ability to think for him/herself and manage without direction having to be given.
  • The ability to travel as our projects are scattered throughout the United States and, in some cases, outside of the U.S.
