Job Details
Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets project plans, specifications, permits, and other pertinent contract documents; exercises sound engineering and construction judgement.
- Makes sure construction complies with contract documents.
- Knows specific contract documents and references specific to projects.
- Documents and informs appropriate representative about relevant observations, including the progress of work, problems that develop, and works proactively in identifying potential problems and issues; recommends solutions to problems and issues encountered.
- Makes sure contractor's safety program complies with contract requirements. Attends/conducts safety meetings; prepares and submits safety documentation as appropriate.
- Records daily construction progress with clear and accurate diaries and photographs.
- Measures, calculates, and documents quantities of installed materials in accordance with designated procedures, formats, and computer programs.
- Supports construction project team for change order preparation and monitoring.
- Updates As-Built drawings.
- Coordinates surveys, materials testing, and sampling.
Qualifications
- Holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
- Has 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in construction inspection, or 5-7+ years of general construction experience.
- Understands highway, bridge, and public works construction.
- Has depth & knowledge in construction management applications.
- A valid PE license in the State of California is preferred.
- Is proficient in MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
- Has competent verbal and written communication skills.
- Can develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities.
- Willingness to travel.
- Has a valid driver’s license; must meet and maintain driver eligibility requirements.
