About the role

Responsible for the direct supervision of children and residents participating in the recreational program. Enforces applicable rules and provides assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate client participation in the recreation program.
  • Monitor recreational activities to ensure compliance with established regulations.
  • Submit monthly assessments for program effectiveness.
  • Assist with the implementation of scheduled recreational activities.
  • Organize and implement all holiday activities for residents.
  • Maintain all records in accordance with Serenity House policies and regulated agencies, including attendance forms, permission slips, monthly schedules and reports, trip forms, and lesson forms.
  • De-escalate conflicts among the client population through non-violent intervention using security guards as backup.
  • Instruct and demonstrate to groups and individuals the basic rules and finer points of various sports.
  • Issue, collect, and account for recreation equipment.
  • Inventory and maintain all recreational equipment and supplies for quarterly submission.
  • Plan all activities within the confines of the recreational budget.
  • Complete monthly recreation schedules.
  • Assist with supervising and monitoring all participants in the After School Program.
  • Develop and maintain a structured After School Program consisting of a Study Hour, lunch period, and a structured socialization period for the youngsters of Serenity House.
  • Prepare nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks in accordance with USDA guidelines.
  • Follow recipes, menus, and portion controls.
  • Ensure food is prepared in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Clean, sanitize, and organize food products and utensils in the kitchen on a routine basis (e.g., refrigerator, freezer, shelves, dishes).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ensure all clients who enter the shelter receive the services and privileges they are entitled to.
  • Meet program goals and objectives.
  • Help maintain a positive public image for the program.
  • Enhance Serenity House’s Recreational program.

Qualifications

  • Two years of college and one year of related experience or high school diploma and two years of related experience.
  • Knowledgeable of recreational activities in the community.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English).
  • Experience working with children of all ages.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Food Safety Certification required within 6 months of employment.

Pay

The base salary compensation for this role is between $37,852.50 per year.
