Grant Street, Caro, MI 48723 Department: Prosecutor’s Office Reports To: Prosecuting Attorney Salary: $72,139.04 – $84,557.90 Yearly Benefits Yes Position: Full-Time Posting Date: 09/04/2026 Open Until Filled Job Description Job Overview: The Assistant Prosecuting Attorney assists in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the office of the Prosecuting Attorney. Responsibilities And Duties Under the direction of the Prosecuting Attorney reviews investigations presented by law enforcement to determine appropriate charges, if any, and files complaints for warrant authorization. The Assistant will present criminal cases in the District and Circuit Court, as well as handle matters in the Juvenile Court. The position may also require appearances on Probate Court matters. Prosecutors are responsible for preparing and responding to criminal pleadings, conducting preliminary, evidentiary and mental health hearings. You will represent the People of the State of Michigan in pretrial matters, pleas, trials, sentencing and some appeals. Trial preparation and plea negotiations will require consultation with the victims of crimes, witnesses to the charged offenses, and members of law enforcement. This list is not inclusive of the total scope of the job functions to be performed. Duties may be added, deleted, or modified at any time by the Prosecuting Attorney. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited law school, licensed by the Michigan Bar Association with membership in good standing. Duties will include practice in Circuit, District and Probate Courts. Prior Prosecutorial Experience Preferred. PACC/PAAM Internships may be substituted for prior prosecutorial experience.
