About the role

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office represents the State of Michigan in matters before the Michigan district and circuit courts. Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys (APAs) handle criminal, delinquency, neglect, and family-support cases, routinely conducting hearings, bench trials, and jury trials.

The office seeks candidates who want to make a difference in their community, connect with victims, judges, jurors, and colleagues, and demonstrate a strong work ethic and academic background. Experience in juvenile or criminal justice—before, during, or after law school—is a plus.

APAs are expected to diligently review and prepare files, research legal issues, advocate in court, and exercise sound judgment while upholding the highest ethical standards. As a minister of justice, you are empowered to do the right thing in every case. The role offers unique training and experience not available elsewhere.

Pay

$76,650 – $159,314 yearly
