Assistant Prosecuting Attorney – Barry County Prosecutor’s Office

About the role

The Assistant Prosecutor will work closely with the Chief Prosecutor to handle criminal cases, including trial preparation, plea negotiations, and court appearances.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present evidence in court
  • Negotiate plea bargains with defense attorneys
  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Manage case files and documents
  • Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders
  • Participate in community outreach programs

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-approved law school
  • Admission to the Michigan Bar
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Experience with criminal law and procedure
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay

The salary range for this position is $71,219.20 – $96,844.80 per year.
