The assistant prosecutor will be handling misdemeanor and felony delinquency cases as well as representing the Department of Health and Human Services in child protective proceedings. The assistant prosecutor may also, depending on qualifications, be asked to handle adult criminal matters, both misdemeanor and felony, that are connected to the child protective proceedings. Experience in family proceedings, or a desire to do so, is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities And Duties

• The assistant prosecutor will be responsible for handling a large docket of juvenile delinquency cases, felony and misdemeanor, and will be expected to handle all related proceedings including preliminary hearings, pre-trials, jury trials, bench trials, and dispositional/review hearings.
• In addition, the assistant prosecutor will be responsible for reviewing and issuing juvenile petitions.
• The assistant prosecutor will also be asked to handle child protective proceedings (Neglect/Abuse) and all related proceedings including emergency removal hearings, pre-trials, adjudication trials, and dispositional/review hearings.
• The assistant prosecutor will work closely with the Department of Health and Human Services to draft motions, pleadings, and petitions related to the proceedings.

Minimum Qualifications

• JD degree from an accredited school
• Michigan Licensure either obtained or expected to be obtained this calendar year
• Experience in Family Court preferred or a desire to work in Family Court

Salary

$77,188.00 – $116,958.00 Yearly
