Assistant Prosecuting Attorney - Drug/Forfeiture (4821-31)

Responsibilities

  • Interact with various members of law enforcement officers including but not limited to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department Regional Enforcement Narcotics Unit (RENU) and the Cincinnati Police Department’s Major Drug Offender Unit on a regular basis.
  • Handle all manner of pre-trial motions and Jury Trials.
  • Interact with defense counsel, Judges and all staff of the Hamilton County Courts.
  • Work cooperatively with all parties in the Hamilton County Treatment and Recovery Court to facilitate the successful treatment and recovery of individuals participating in it.
  • Engage in the discovery process with all cases in all courts.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
  • Strong legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Understanding of criminal law in the State of Ohio.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and high-stress situations.
  • Critical thinking, decision making skills, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Detail oriented, flexible and quick thinking, and ability to learn new tasks.
  • Good time management, with an ability to prioritize job duties to ensure accurate and timely completion of responsibilities.
  • Fairness, strong work ethic, integrity, and an interest in seeking justice.
  • Possess strong communication skills, sense of professional behavior, integrity and ethics.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to perform all other duties assigned, delegated, or required of the Assistant Prosecuting attorney, as well as those prescribed by law.
  • Ability to conduct business in accordance within State and Federal statutes and guidelines.
  • Confidentiality is essential.

Knowledge

  • Office practices and procedures;
  • Ohio Criminal Statutes;
  • Ohio Rules of Criminal Procedures;
  • Ohio Rules of Evidence;
  • Axon;
  • Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Outlook.
