About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to provide field support during the design, construction, and close-out phases of engineering and construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field support with an emphasis on work performed by third-party contractors during construction and design.
  • Provide project management support during the design phase by overseeing the design consultant performing station condition surveys.
  • Ensure all work complies with contract documents.
  • Complete all required contract documentation.
  • Provide support during inspections and quality control/quality assurance for the furnishing and installation of materials and equipment through project close-out.
  • Affiliate with project coordination meetings with stakeholders, prepare meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
  • Monitor safety to ensure all personnel, contractors, and subcontractors comply with contract safety requirements.
  • Prepare Daily Reports, Quality and Safety Checklists and Reports, Field Condition Survey Reports, Field Sketches, scopes of work for change orders, estimates, additional work order packages, and other reports as required.
  • Prepare, submit, and coordinate requests for project support services, including flagging, access, and protection.
  • Affiliate with project budgets, schedules, and construction activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or Business, or an Associate degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of full-time experience performing project management work, including planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting engineering projects, or supervising construction projects valued at $20 million or more.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience or one (1) year serving as a Project Manager on a large and/or complex construction project.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification. 8-Hour Lead Awareness Course.
  • Must successfully complete required track safety training prior to participating in capital program projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to organize project information, prepare reports and presentations, and communicate effectively with contractors and other departments.
  • Knowledge or experience with capital construction procedures and field operations.
  • Knowledge or experience with construction scheduling and estimating.
  • Knowledge or experience with mass transit operations and facilities preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate with operations and engineering personnel.

Skills

  • Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
  • CADD experience is desirable but not required.
