Assistant Project Manager - O&M

Location: Urbandale, Iowa (Hybrid) | Remote

Salary Range: $68,250 to $89,000. This position is eligible for the annual performance bonus plan. Final determination of starting pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

About the Role

Assistant Project Managers (APM) at Cupertino Electric are key to coordinating between the field team, project team, and customers. Partnering with the Project Manager, the APM will learn processes and strategic approaches to projects while contributing to project activities.

Responsibilities

• Review and track project activities, including change orders, submittals, tracking logs, and related documents.
• Lead team meetings and guide Project Engineers and Project Coordinators in collaboration with the Project Manager, Production Manager, field team, and Trade Partners.
• Identify cost and schedule impacts associated with RFIs, submittals, and design changes; provide timely notifications.
• Price change orders consistently and promptly for Project Manager review and approval.
• Develop and manage close-out documents as the project progresses.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with third parties and follow up on open items.
• Maintain strong working partnerships with vendors and subcontractors.
• Coordinate accurate material releases on time and consistent with project documents.
• Track material releases, changes, and coordinate delivery with the construction schedule.

About You

• Serve as a go-to person to resolve issues or potential problem areas.
• Actively seek new ways to improve or change processes with innovative and entrepreneurial thinking.
• Prior experience working on semi-remote jobsites and supervising others.
• Renewables, large electrical, or data center build experience highly desired.
• Good working knowledge of MS applications, including Excel.
• Prior experience in electrical estimating and accurately pricing change orders.
• Knowledge of Electrical Code and Civil Construction.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred.
• Three or more years of experience as a Project Engineer in electrical construction (Renewable Energy preferred) or MEP/Civil/Structural experience in general contracting.
• Minimum five years of related experience, including managing smaller projects.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; this position is not eligible for sponsorship.
