Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Vice President in planning, directing, and coordinating activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. They participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured rotational development program across Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management, Project Controls, Contracts, Estimating, Safety, Quality, and Project Management to develop a broad understanding of industrial EPC project execution.
  • Support Directors, Project Managers, and Vice Presidents by assisting with task management, action item tracking, expediting, meeting coordination, and follow-up to help ensure timely project execution.
  • Aid in the development of project schedules, budgets, project execution plans, construction work packages, scopes of work, and project documentation.
  • Assist with bid package preparation, subcontractor bid evaluations, constructability reviews, procurement activities, and project planning efforts.
  • Gain field experience by supporting active construction projects and learning industrial construction means and methods, sequencing, quality, and safety practices.
  • Cover project documentation, engineering deliverables, procurement status, RFIs, submittals, and other project information between internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, and client coordination activities while developing leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative by accepting progressively greater responsibility and successfully completing technical, commercial, and leadership development assignments.
  • Travel to project sites, engineering offices, fabrication facilities, and client locations as required to support project execution and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a supervisory role on construction sites.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the company safety policy and familiar and willing to comply with the Quality Control program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Primavera Scheduling software is a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Some overtime required to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires long periods of sitting.
  • Must be able to travel to off-site jobs.
