About the Role
Carolina Pipe Fabrication, LLC is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager - Fabrication to assist in the design and project management of prefabricated systems. This role involves collaborating with top talent to contribute fresh ideas and help build a better future while making a difference in people's lives.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing facility projects while maintaining close interaction with Project Managers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Determine fabrication needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet customer facility requirements.
- Coordinate with sales to provide data needed to assemble project scope.
- Handle project-specific engineering and develop scope of work and project specifications.
- Work with the project schedule and engineering to determine equipment specifications and procure materials.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders for subcontractors and approve invoices.
- Provide complete closeout documentation and warranty coverage.
- Review and maintain cost estimates for materials, subcontractors, purchased equipment, and other project-related activities.
- Work with engineering on the specification and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Optimize job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/subcontractors.
- Document work by maintaining files for each job.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Company.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes and best practices.
- Strong communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug test.
Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting, occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and gripping.
- Clear speaking and adequate hearing to communicate effectively in-person and by telephone.
- Vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data.
- Repetitive motions for computer equipment use.
Work Environment
- Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, and high noise intensity levels.
- Atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Wet and/or humid environments, vibration, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Work in high-exposure places (job sites) and/or an office environment with conditioned air and bright lights.
