Burns & McDonnell is actively seeking an Environmental Siting & Routing Assistant Project Manager to support, manage, and develop business for transmission line routing studies, environmental surveys, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis, and land use planning/permitting services. About the Role

The Environmental Siting & Routing Project Manager will work within our Environmental Services (ENS) Global Practice to perform the following primary duties:

  • Project management, team leadership, and mentor junior level staff.
  • Prepare routing studies and evaluations pursuant to siting applications for approval by regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare environmental studies/evaluations, impact analysis, and NEPA documentation for projects serving a variety of markets.
  • Conduct pre-application meetings with jurisdictions, interact effectively with county and local staff, prepare and submit land use permits, and prepare material for public open houses and public outreach.
  • Work independently and demonstrate a high level of competence in technical report writing related to NEPA compliance as well as other types of technical reports and regulatory (federal, state, local) permitting documents.
  • Work with clients, resource agencies, environmental and technical staff to prepare environmental documents and related technical studies.
  • Develop, cultivate, and strengthen existing and new client relationships.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science or Studies, Planning, Natural and/or Cultural Resource Management or related field, or B.S. or M.S. in land use planning/urban planning.
  • Minimum 5 years related consulting experience in a wide variety of areas ranging from leading and managing technical teams, project management, business development, and the ability to effectively balance their direct and indirect utilization rates.
  • Specific demonstrated experience in acquiring siting certificates for electric transmission line projects and scoping and leading these types of projects.
  • Experience with the local, state, and federal resources and regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on and manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications
