Key Responsibilities
- Support project-specific quality control plans and perform field inspections to verify compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and standards.
- Cook up material submittals, testing, inspections, and documentation for water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and related site work.
- Aid in jobsite safety audits, Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), toolbox talks, OSHA compliance, near-miss tracking, and corrective actions.
- Aid Project Managers with Request for Information (RFIs), change orders, daily reports, purchase requisitions, project records, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, clients, and internal teams to resolve quality, safety, or field concerns.
- Review daily reports and timecards for accuracy of labor hours, quantities, equipment, and materials.
- Aid in weekly project updates, bid proposals, cost projections, project cost reports, and Work Performance Reports (WPRs).
- Help monitor subcontractor and vendor performance while gaining hands-on exposure to scheduling, cost management, and project closeout.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related field preferred.
- Recent graduate or approximately 1-3 years out of school; relevant internship, co-op, field, or construction experience strongly preferred.
- Exposure to heavy civil construction, underground utilities, excavation, site preparation, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
- Ability to read construction plans and technical specifications with strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS, Unanet, or similar construction software is a plus.
- Self-motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment.
Location & Travel
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to, the Birmingham, Alabama area.
- Must be willing and able to travel approximately 90% of the time, including extended project assignments and overnight travel.
- The initial project assignment will begin in the Sevierville, Tennessee area.
- Daily per diem and company-paid lodging are provided for qualifying travel assignments.
