About the role
Laland Baptiste, LLC is a certified minority and woman-owned construction management and consulting firm. We provide innovative and professional services throughout all phases of the construction life cycle, including Construction Management, Program Management, Owners Representation, Resident Engineering, Inspection, Preconstruction Consulting, Change Order Review, Value Engineering, Administration Assistance, Document Control, and Staff Augmentation primarily for public clients.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the progress of the project through regular communication with the design team and contractor.
- Communicate project progress to the owner.
- Review and recommend payment for contractor invoices.
- Review and recommend contract changes for execution.
- Aid in dispute resolution as needed.
- Manage all aspects of the project, working with management, staff, clients, and contractors.
- Maintain and update project records and reports.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and clients to understand the project scope, evaluate construction tasks, and build, review, and approve price proposals.
- Schedule and manage project-specific meetings, and participate in program-related meetings as required.
- Interpret and recommend approaches to resolving issues based on plans, specifications, reports, bid materials, contracts, and other related documents.
- Assist with monitoring performance measures, goals, and objectives.
- Develop, prepare, and maintain various program-related reports, spreadsheets, logs, charts, and databases.
- Work with parties on building commissioning and project close out.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction Management plus 2 years of relevant construction industry experience with public and/or private projects.
- Prior experience managing projects with a single value in excess of $1 million or experience managing a portfolio of projects totaling this amount at a given time.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Higher Education or K-12 experience a plus.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts, and related construction documents.
- Proficient in project scheduling and evaluation of critical path work items.
- Proficient in project cost management.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills.
- Ability to use project management software such as Procore.
- Proficiency in PC applications, such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and Bluebeam.
- Demonstrated record of taking initiative.
- Demonstrated management skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills if appropriate.
