About the role

IPS, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a global leader in technical consulting, architecture, engineering, procurement, construction management, commissioning, qualification, and validation services for technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager (Construction) to join our dedicated team based out of our Somerset, NJ office.

Responsibilities

  • Aid the Project Manager in coordinating all contractual requirements, design drawings, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate procurement of sub-contracts and purchase orders.
  • Manage construction billings and cash flow.
  • Analyze project scopes of work and communicate to the project team.
  • Support the Procurement Manager with bid package documentation, pre-bids/walkthroughs, bid reviews, and analyses.
  • Monitor and report project costs, including values committed, forecast to commit, allowances for growth, and actually expended.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager and Superintendents to ensure field events, conditions, exceptions, and issues are reflected in cost reports.
  • Work with Project Services to manage project costs and exposures.
  • Assist with site safety for assigned projects, including establishing a site safety program, monitoring site safety, and correcting nonconformances.
  • Generate project monthly reports and change management reports.
  • Prepare and verify application for payment.
  • Manage punch-list management and warranty reviews.
  • Generate as-built documents.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related discipline, or an equivalent technical degree.
  • 4-6 years of experience in Engineering, Project Delivery, or a related discipline.
  • Experience on pharmaceutical or biotech construction project sites.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required; lift and move objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Work Environment: 5% travel, or as required by the assigned project; overnight travel or staying in the client's location is possible, depending on the assignment; must have reliable transportation; must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying weather.
  • Safety: This position is a safety-sensitive role. Must have access to reliable transportation and be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
