Overview
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will assist the Project Manager in managing the project life cycle process on assigned projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Aid in project pricing, budgeting, and estimating.
- Manage subcontractors/vendors and project schedules.
- Coordinate safety meetings and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with codes and project requirements during HVAC and plumbing installations.
- Participate in project meetings and prepare vendor/subcontractor purchase orders, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Contribute to monthly reports, cost reviews, and project documentation.
- Support the Project Manager in preparing change orders, project close-out, and commissioning requirements.
- Collaborate with the project team to meet project goals and develop career skills.
Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining a safe and secure work environment by:
- Coordinating safety meetings and incident investigations.
- Maintaining employee involvement in safety initiatives.
- Assisting project managers and superintendents in executing the project life cycle.
- Ensuring proper planning and management of HVAC and plumbing installations.
- Participating in operation, corporate, and departmental meetings.
- Preparing vendor and subcontractor purchase orders, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Actively participating in cost reviews and reporting deviations from plan/schedule.
- Collaborating with the project team to bring projects in on time and under budget.
Qualifications
- Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering.
- 0-2 years' experience in the industry.
- Thorough knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods.
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Detail-oriented and able to handle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of the industry and Company's competitors.
- Excellent multitasking skills, capable of performing duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
- Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Experience in processing submittals.
- Experience in heavy commercial construction.
- Hands-on experience in craft supervision and labor coordination.
Travel Requirements
40-60% of time will be spent traveling to job sites/offices.
Physical Activities
- Climbing stairs.
- Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving between worksites.
Environmental Conditions
- Quiet environment.
- Noisy environment.
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
Physical Demands
- Medium work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
Pay Range
USD $27.92 - USD $37.29 /Hr.
