Assistant Program Director for DYCD School-Based Programs

About the role

Assist in the overall administration of the Afterschool Program. Assist with training, scheduling of activities, daily supervision of staff, recordkeeping and reporting, data entry, communicating with parents, organizing special events, and other related functions. Coordinate responsibilities with the Program Director, Attendance Coordinator, Parent Coordinator, and Y's Human Resources Partner.

Responsibilities

  • Manage data tracking systems for enrollment and daily attendance in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Coordinate communication of absences, special programming, and other participant updates to families.
  • Oversee planning for family and community engagement events.
  • Maintain and develop solutions for participant recruitment and retention challenges.
  • Design and implement cohort-based programming to promote community building.
  • Manage program office space and supplies.
  • Supervise senior staff members with special projects.
  • Aid Afterschool Program Director with human resources paperwork and filing.
  • Serve as the program’s point person in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Organize, lead, and promote the students' interest and participation in the activities offered by the program.
  • Produce regular reports (weekly, monthly, and annually) to support the Program Director.
  • Ensure that the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood remains in compliance with funders by updating the staff and DOH files, binders, and documents regularly.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Education or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Two years’ experience working with youth in school-age programs.
  • Must meet all School-Age Child Care (SACC) site supervisor qualifications.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/RTE certifications preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Must be available to work day times, weekends, and evenings, as needed.

Qualifications/Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Work Authorization & Clearance Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass the background check, medical exams, fingerprinting and other requirements of the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DOE), and Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).

Benefits

Travel

Able to travel to various sites in New York City (mainly Washington Heights and Inwood).
