Assistant Program Director - Department Promotional - Aging & Adult Services

This position works within the Aging & Adult Services Department.

Examination Schedule

• Performance Exam: will be conducted on September 28, 2026
• Oral Exam: qualified candidates will be notified 5 days prior to the oral examination
• Examination Components:
  • Performance Exam (Weight 30%): a job-related exercise which may include a work problem, consisting of analysis and writing
  • Oral Exam (Weight 70%): appraises training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position
• Examination components for promotional testing will be administered during the scheduled date(s)/time(s)/location(s) without exception
• Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process
• If the number of applicants successful on the performance exam is insufficient to merit an oral exam, the performance exam shall be weighted 100%

Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards

• Two years of experience as a Supervisor in a California Social Services Agency of which one and one-half (1.5) years must have consisted of supervising Eligibility or Social Services Program staff; or
• Five (5) years social/eligibility work experience in a public, non-profit, or private social service agency of which two (2) years must have been comparable to a Social Service or Eligibility Supervisor
• A college degree can substitute for six (6) months of the experience requirement, not including the one and one-half (1.5) years as an Eligibility or Social Services Supervisor

Additional Requirements

• Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license is required upon appointment
