About the Role

Under supervision of the Program Administrator, the Assistant Program Director ensures quality care and oversees the functions of the Promesa Community Residence or the Apartment Treatment Program according to NYSOMH regulatory and accreditation requirements. This individual is responsible for the oversight and implementation of care and resources for the purpose of meeting the physical, emotional and social needs of patients and/or clients.

Responsibilities

  • Confers with and assists the co-Assistant Director in the everyday management of the residences.
  • Has direct oversight and supervision of Community Residence Staff.
  • Discusses the implementation of policies and procedures noting deficiencies, needed changes and amendments.
  • Makes program evaluations and reports results to Administrator.
  • Oversee and prepare program reports.
  • Supervise the administrative operations of the residence addressing and implementing incident reporting requirements established by regulatory agencies and Acacia Network.
  • Affords assistance in evaluating, counseling, disciplining and ensuring that community residence staff are performing satisfactorily.
  • Ensures daily residence documentation is maintained accurately and consistent with OMH standards.
  • Participates in quality assurance review and investigation process.
  • Leads staff developmental meetings.
  • Attends Acacia departmental and development meetings.
  • Partners with Acacia network and its divisions.
  • Directs care coordination through monitoring of resident progress.
  • Participates and supports the operations of admissions, discharges and census management within the residences.
  • Determines and contacts agencies which might be utilized for referrals.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the human service field.
  • Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW) or eligible for credentials within 6 months of hire or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the human service field required.
  • At least 3 year’s experience in social services and some supervisory experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Highly organized, motivated self-starter.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of organization, community and/or social service resources and programs.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour calls for program management and building emergencies.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends as needed.

Skills

The overall responsibilities of the Assistant Program Director include assisting the Administrator of the Community Residences with the management and operation of OMH funded programs across within the Community Residence. The Assistant Program Director oversees the operations of all departments to assure that they follow agency procedures and operates in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements. The Assistant Program Director performs all tasks and duties delegated by the Administrator.
