Job Summary

The University of Michigan College of Pharmacy is seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Medicinal Chemistry. This role is part of the NIH-funded Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT), a university-wide initiative designed to promote inclusive excellence in the biomedical and health sciences.

About the Role

The selected candidate will receive 75% protected research time and 25% teaching/service responsibilities during the first five years. The successful hire is expected to establish an innovative, independent, and externally funded research program. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership potential, a commitment to academic excellence, and dedication to supporting the College’s graduate, professional, and undergraduate education missions.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Hold a PhD in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, or a closely related field by July 1, 2026.
  • Have a strong research background in chemical biology and/or medicinal chemistry, with emphasis on chemoproteomics.
  • Demonstrate a track record of promoting health equity through research, teaching/mentoring, service, or related professional activities.
  • Have no prior tenure-track faculty appointment at any higher education institution.
  • Meet the NIH definition of an Early Stage Investigator (ESI) at the time of hire (anticipated August 2026).
  • Be currently eligible—and remain eligible—for NIH funding throughout the program.
  • Possess an ORCID iD (registration available on the ORCID website if needed).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 per year.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week.
