Assistant Professor-Tenure System

About the Role

Michigan State University’s Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-system Assistant Professor position in microeconomic theory, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2027. We are especially interested in candidates doing work in information economics but welcome excellent candidates in all subfields of microeconomic theory. This is a union position represented by the Union of Tenure System Faculty (UTSF).

Responsibilities

• Conduct leading-edge research in microeconomic theory, with a focus on information economics or related subfields.
• Publish high-impact peer-reviewed scholarly contributions.
• Provide high-quality instruction and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Pursue external funding opportunities.
• Contribute service to the Department, University, and profession.
• Collaborate with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Economics or a related field (PhD expected to be conferred by August 1, 2027).
• Research interest primarily in information economics or related subfields of microeconomic theory.
• A well-defined research agenda with a track record of scholarly contributions and potential for high-impact publication.

• Experience or potential in pursuing external funding.
• Demonstrated ability or potential to provide service to the Department, University, and profession.
