Assistant Professor, Secondary Education (F00337)

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in secondary education, including instructional methods, foundations, and curriculum design
• Advises and mentors students across stages of the teacher preparation process
• Contributes to curriculum development, program assessment, and departmental initiatives
• Maintains a commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, and evidence-based instruction
• Participates actively in school, university, and professional service

Required Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Secondary Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field
• Ability to serve as the social studies education content area specialist for the department
• Demonstrated teaching excellence, organizational, and communication skills
• Familiarity with teacher certification standards and state education requirements, particularly in New York
• Commitment to equity, access, and culturally responsive education

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching in higher education
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience in grades 7-12 settings
• Knowledge of accreditation processes (e.g., CAEP) and assessment practices
