About the role

The James Madison University’s School of Accounting (SOA) invites applications for an experienced tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2027. Advanced assistant professors are also encouraged to apply. We invite qualified applicants to teach and conduct research in any area of accounting with a preference for teaching financial/governmental or accounting information systems (AIS)/data analytics/technology.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses.
  • Conduct research leading to quality peer-reviewed publications.
  • Provide service to students, the department, the profession, and the university in accordance with the College of Business Guidelines for Faculty Qualifications.

Qualifications

  • A terminal degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience in accounting.
  • Evidence of, or the potential for, publishing a continuing stream of quality scholarly research.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching.

Preferred Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or related accounting certificates).
