About the department
The School of Accounting (SOA) is one of five academic units within the Lundquist College of Business at the University of Oregon. The SOA holds AACSB accounting accreditation, a distinction held by less than 2 percent of business schools. The school's mission includes:

- Advancing scholarship through basic research published in high-quality academic journals

The SOA maintains strong engagement with the accounting profession through its advisory board, the Accounting Circle, and professional organizations such as the Oregon Society of CPAs. Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong research program with publications in high-quality academic journals
- Teach courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
- Mentor and supervise PhD students in their research
- Engage in academic service within the school and university
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines and contribute to the accounting community
Requirements
- Completed Ph.D. in Accounting or a closely related field by the start date of the appointment
- Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence
- Ability to publish research in high-quality academic journals
Exceptional doctoral candidates in the final stages of degree completion will be considered, provided all degree requirements are completed before the appointment begins.
Preferred Qualifications
- Record of scholarly contributions, such as publications in top-tier journals or conference presentations
- Ability to maintain scholarly currency and AACSB scholarly academic (SA) designation
- Experience teaching courses at undergraduate and/or graduate levels
- Engagement or potential for engagement in academic service
- Experience mentoring PhD students and supervising their research
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
