Assistant Professor of Accounting

About the role

The School of Business at Eastern Illinois University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position in accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2027.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the School of Business mission through excellence in teaching, research, and service.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
• Maintain a sustainable research program that generates scholarly output consistent with the missions of the School of Business and the Accountancy Program.
• Teach across accounting areas (financial accounting, accounting information systems, managerial accounting, auditing, and taxation).
• Adapt to departmental needs as they evolve.
• Engage in applied and pedagogical research.
• Provide service to the School of Business and the University.

Requirements

• Hold a Ph.D. or DBA in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited accounting doctoral program with a strong record of research training in accounting.
• Strong record of research training in accounting.
• Evidence of strong instructional effectiveness and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or other relevant designations are a plus.
• Business experience and experience teaching online are also desirable.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated passion for teaching, student mentoring, and overall student career development.

Skills

• Experience using AI to supplement teaching and engage students.
