Position Summary
All Teaching Faculty members shall: Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date; respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.); perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources; and other teaching and related duties as outlined on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Teaching courses within the assigned discipline area in accordance with institutional standards
Evaluating and assessing student learning outcomes
Providing student support, mentoring, and academic advising
Developing curriculum and periodically reviewing and updating instructional materials
Assisting with program reviews and accreditation-related activities
Planning and executing program-related events
Attending workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field
Program Coordinator Duties
Recruit, advise, and retain students in designated program areas
Select appropriate part-time instructors
Schedule program courses
Hire and evaluate faculty
Establish and cultivate partnerships with local organizations and employers
Arrange and supervise student internships
Assess, evaluate, and continuously improve the program
Perform other duties as appropriately assigned to a Program Coordinator, in accordance with contract hours and the collective bargaining agreement
Utilize release time, as specified in the collective bargaining agreement, to perform required administrative functions
Additional Responsibilities
Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
Service on assigned committees and task forces
Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Nursing or a related discipline
Active R.N. licensure in Connecticut
Four (4) years college teaching experience (96+ credits); OR Two (2) years’ college teaching experience (48+ credits) with four (4) or more years (Fulltime Equivalency) of clinical nursing experience
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) courses
Experience with curriculum development, program assessment and evaluation
Experience incorporating technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software

Selection Process
After the closing date, applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. Candidates selected for further consideration will be those who best meet the minimum and preferred qualifications and who submitted all required materials by the deadline. The selection process may include interviews and practical exercises (e.g., written, technical, or simulation exercises). Finalists will be recommended to the Hiring Manager for final selection.
