Pepperdine University’s Natural Science Division of the Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences seeks a tenure-track faculty member in Biomechanics/Functional Anatomy to begin August 1, 2027.

Successful candidates will actively contribute to a rigorous curriculum in the exercise sciences, with demonstrated doctoral/postdoctoral preparation for teaching undergraduate coursework in functional anatomy & kinesiology and/or biomechanics, as well as at least one other area within exercise science such as biostatistics, movement analysis, or gross anatomy.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in functional anatomy & kinesiology and/or biomechanics, plus at least one additional area within exercise science.
- Establish and maintain a productive research program that involves undergraduate students.
- Mentor undergraduate students in teaching and research.
- Serve the university, profession, and surrounding community.
- Support the Christian mission of Pepperdine University and integrate faith and learning in the classroom.
Requirements
- Ph.D. completed by August 1, 2027, in biomechanics, human anatomy, kinesiology (with emphasis on movement analysis), or a closely related field.
- Post-doctoral experience preferred.
- Active commitment to the Christian mission of Pepperdine University.
- Demonstrated interest and effectiveness in teaching, research, and mentoring undergraduates.
Research & Collaboration
Current research interests in the department include human performance in hypoxia, nutritional considerations for elite athletes, exercise during the perinatal period, exercise and neuroinflammation, and motor-control adapted populations. Well-equipped exercise science laboratories are available for teaching and research. Scholarly collaboration is encouraged among Sports Medicine faculty and with faculty from other disciplines (e.g., biology, nutrition, chemistry, physics).

Pay
The salary for this appointment will range from $91,527 to $97,701, based on qualifications, experience, and market conditions. Pepperdine offers a robust suite of employee benefits.
