Assistant Professor of Sport Administration (AY 27-28)

About the Role

The Communication Division of Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at Pepperdine University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Sport Administration. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Sport Administration, mentor and advise students, and contribute to curriculum assessment and design.

Pepperdine’s undergraduate Seaver College is a residential liberal arts college of approximately 3,500 students located in Malibu, California. Successful applicants must demonstrate an active commitment to the Christian mission of the University.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Sport Administration, including:
  • Sport Event and Facility Management
  • Sport Finance
  • Sport Analytics
  • Other required courses as needed
• Blend theory with practice to prepare students for careers in the sport industry using real-world examples, case studies, and innovative learning experiences.
• Mentor and advise undergraduate Sport Administration students academically and professionally.
• Assist in advising the Sport Administration student association.
• Contribute to curriculum assessment and design, including oversight of student internships.
• Develop sport industry opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Sport Management, Sport Administration, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution, completed by August 1, 2027.
• Documented teaching experience and research interest in Sport Administration.
• Professional experience in Sport Event and Facility Management, Sport Finance, and/or Sport Analytics is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated history and passion for developing sport industry opportunities for students.
• Active commitment to the Christian mission of Pepperdine University and ability to integrate faith and learning in the classroom.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and show respect for workplace differences.

Pay

The salary range for this appointment is $91,527 - $97,701 per year. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications, experience, and market conditions.
