Houghton University is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Sport Management professional.

About the role

The Sport Management position at Houghton University involves overseeing and enhancing the athletic programs and experiences for student-athletes within the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). This role focuses on aligning athletic opportunities with the mission of fostering both #RingChasing (competitive excellence) and #KingChasing (spiritual growth).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage sport programs for student-athletes in alignment with NCCAA and university goals.
  • Coordinate with coaches, athletic directors, and university staff to ensure smooth operation of athletic events and programs.
  • Promote student-athlete development through leadership, mentorship, and spiritual growth initiatives.
  • Oversee compliance with NCCAA regulations and standards for all athletic activities.
  • Support recruitment efforts for student-athletes and sport management personnel.
  • Facilitate communication between the university, NCCAA, and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning and executing regional and national championships across various sports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Athletic Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience in collegiate athletics, preferably within the NCCAA or similar organizations.
  • Strong understanding of NCAA or NCCAA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to integrating faith-based values with athletic excellence.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and athletic management software.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Passion for student-athlete development and mentorship.
