Assistant Professor of Research Neurology INI

About the role

The USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute (INI) seeks a highly-qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Professor of Research Neurology (non-tenure track).

Responsibilities

• Leading large-scale multi-site initiatives in neuroimaging, including multimodal MRI studies of aging and Alzheimer’s disease.
• Working on genetic and environmental contributors to suboptimal brain aging.
• Experience in neurovirology, specifically the effects of chronic HIV infection on the brain.
• Applying data and computer science methods to large-scale neuroimaging datasets.
• Driving innovation in team science initiatives involving image analytics and linking clinical and neuropsychological data to brain imaging markers.
• Advanced knowledge of diffusion MRI pipelines and processing, across multiple clinical and research datasets.
• Displaying strong mentorship skills and excelling at oral and written scientific communication.
• Nationally and internationally recognized for technical and scientific leadership as evidenced by publications in premier medical and imaging conferences and journals.

Requirements

• PhD degree in Neuroscience or a related field with a strong background in interdisciplinary computational neuroscience research.
• Rigorous training and experience in neurobiology, neuroanatomy, image processing, and computational modeling.
• Deep knowledge of structural and microstructural brain mapping, particularly large-scale data analysis, multi-site modeling, statistics, and visualization of magnetic resonance imaging datasets.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of brain-behavior relationships in clinical and non-clinical populations, particularly in older adults.
• Knowledge of structural and diffusion MRI techniques, big data methodologies, and multi-cohort data harmonization.

Skills

• Data and computer science methods for large-scale neuroimaging datasets.
• Team science initiatives involving image analytics and linking clinical and neuropsychological data to brain imaging markers.
• Diffusion MRI pipelines and processing, across multiple clinical and research datasets.
• Mentorship skills and scientific communication abilities.

Benefits

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000.
