Assistant Professor of Research Neurology
The University of Southern California (USC) seeks an Assistant Professor of Research Neurology in the USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (INI).
About the Role
The USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (INI) is a leading institution in the development of advanced computational and scientific approaches for the comprehensive mapping of brain structure and function. This position involves developing and optimizing advanced neurovascular imaging technologies at 3 and 7T, and conducting clinical application studies.
Responsibilities
- Developing advanced neurovascular imaging technologies at 3 and 7T
- Conducting clinical application studies
- Researching and developing arterial spin labeled (ASL) techniques for mapping perfusion and blood brain barrier (BBB) function
- Performing preclinical MRI studies to validate clinical imaging methods and understand neurophysiological mechanisms
- Mentoring and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
- Communicating research findings effectively in scientific conferences and journals
Requirements
- Minimum of 10+ years experience with MRI technical development and applications
- PhD degree in Physics, Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Rigorous training and experience in neuroimaging, including image acquisition, processing, and reconstruction
- Advanced knowledge of perfusion and functional MRI techniques, with clinical applications in cerebrovascular and neurodegenerative diseases
Qualifications
- Experience in managing and coordinating team science initiatives
- Strong mentorship skills and excellent oral and written scientific communication abilities
- Nationally and internationally recognized for technical and scientific leadership
Skills
- Skilled in MRI pulse sequence programming and/or image reconstruction methods
- Expertise in image analytics and relating clinical data to imaging markers
- Knowledge of current challenges and state-of-the-art techniques for functional and physiological brain imaging
