Assistant Professor of Neurology (Institute of Neuro Imaging)

The University of Southern California (USC) seeks an Assistant Professor in Neurology within the Institute of Neuro Imaging (INI) and Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LONI).

About the role

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of researchers focused on the comprehensive mapping of brain structure and function. They will lead a multi-cohort environmental working group to understand the impact of environmental exposures on brain structure and function.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute projects using complex large-scale datasets consisting of heterogeneous clinical and neuroimaging measures.
• Direct a multi-cohort working group dedicated to understanding the impact of environmental exposures on brain structure and function.
• Apply and obtain funding for this effort through NIH or other grant mechanisms.
• Write and submit grants for research projects.
• Teach one class per semester in the Neuroimaging and Informatics master’s degree program.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant field.
• Sound knowledge of brain-behavior relationships in clinical and non-clinical populations, particularly in older adults.
• Knowledge of structural and diffusion MRI techniques, big data methodologies, and multi-cohort data harmonization.
• Experience with harmonizing clinical data collected from multiple cohorts around the world through a variety of assessments.
• Experience with harmonizing structural and/or diffusion MRI data collected from multiple cohorts around the world using various scanner sequences and magnetic field strengths.
• Leading large-scale multi-cohort projects with 100+ investigators.
• Strong skills in grantsmanship and empirical science writing.
• Working knowledge or expertise in the use of machine learning and advanced data science strategies to address clinically relevant questions about the brain.
• Experience with neuropsychological assessment (battery development, test administration, scoring, and interpretation).

Qualifications

• Working knowledge or expertise in the use of machine learning and advanced data science strategies to address clinically relevant questions about the brain.
• Experience with environmental exposure measurements (e.g., air pollution) and geospatial modeling strategies.
• Experience with neuropsychological assessment (battery development, test administration, scoring, and interpretation).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $145,000 annually.
