Assistant Professor of Practice - College of Business, Accounting

About the role

The Alvarez College of Business, Department of Accounting, is seeking a Fixed-Term-Track (FTT) position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice beginning Fall 2026. This position supports the department’s Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and our Master’s of Accountancy program.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
• Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
• Absess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
• Integrate technology knowledge, including automation and artificial intelligence, in the course curriculum, which could aid students in their professional careers.
• Assist/mentor students as needed.
• Participate in department service activities including committee assignments, advisors for accounting clubs and organizations, and other departmental/college services.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
• Five years of teaching and/or work experience in one or more of the areas of specialization, including accounting, tax, and audit.
• The ability to teach locally in San Antonio on the main campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio.
• A professional certification includes, but is not limited to, a Certified Public Accountant license, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Enrolled Agent.

• This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Doctoral degree in accounting, tax or a related field.
