Department of Business at the University of North Carolina Asheville, a public liberal arts and sciences university, seeks qualified applicants for a full-time (9 month), tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Accounting beginning in the fall semester of 2027.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach 12 contact hours per semester (typically three classes);
  • Establish scholarly activities that involve undergraduates;
  • Engage in service to the institution, the community, and the profession;
  • Teach Accounting courses that satisfy core curriculum requirements;
  • Participate in departmental and university-level service, including active involvement in developing the Accounting presence within the new School of Business, Economics and Professional Studies.

UNC Asheville values interdisciplinary perspectives, often incorporated in teaching within the core curriculum. Multidisciplinary perspectives and pedagogical collaboration with colleagues across campus are welcomed. The university is a national leader in undergraduate research, with over 67% of students graduating each year having participated in this experience. The institution values mentored undergraduate research as a high form of teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Articulate a clear vision for sustainable, highly productive, and preferably externally funded scholarly activities that include undergraduates;
  • Teach in multiple modalities, including face-to-face and online/asynchronous formats;
  • Mentor undergraduate students in research and scholarly activities.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Accounting or a closely related discipline earned prior to July 1, 2027;
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong commitment to undergraduate education;
  • A well-developed plan to establish an active research program involving student mentorship.
