Assistant Professor of Nursing
About the role
The School of Nursing at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach across undergraduate and/or graduate programs, including on-campus and online formats.
- Contribute to the academic excellence, scholarly productivity, and service mission of the School of Nursing and the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS).
- Develop and sustain an independent program of research, secure external funding, publish in peer-reviewed journals, disseminate findings at professional conferences, mentor student research, and collaborate on interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Design and conduct original research that advances nursing science, healthcare delivery, health systems, education, policy, or related interdisciplinary fields.
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, supervise clinical, practicum, or dissertation work as appropriate, advise and mentor students, and contribute to curriculum development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in service activities that advance the School of Nursing, the college, the university, the profession, and the broader community.
- Maintain clinical expertise and professional certification, foster community or healthcare partnerships that support research and student learning.
Requirements
- Minimum acceptable education and experience: Earned research doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent in nursing or another health-related field).
- For early-career candidates: Evidence of an emerging program of research and scholarship through peer-reviewed, high-quality publications, and potential for securing extramurally funded research.
- For senior candidates: An established program of research as evidenced by extramurally funded research and a sustained record of peer-reviewed, high-quality publications and dissemination activities.
- Demonstrated competence in teaching.
- Experience in working with college-age and non-traditional students in on-campus, hybrid, and/or online format.
- Preferred qualifications: A program of research aligned with the National Institutes of Nursing Research’s strategic goals or other National Institutes of Health program.

The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon the candidate’s qualifications. The University of New Hampshire is an R1 Carnegie classification research institution providing comprehensive, high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs of distinction. UNH is located in Durham on a 188-acre campus, 60 miles north of Boston and 8 miles from the Atlantic coast and is convenient to New Hampshire’s lakes and mountains. There is a student enrollment of 13,000 students, with a full-time faculty of over 600, offering 90 undergraduate and more than 70 graduate programs.
