Assistant Professor of Literacy Studies

About the role

Texas A and M-Victoria seeks one full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Literacy Studies with a start date of January 2027. The position is at the Victoria Campus.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in both traditional and online formats (4-course or equivalent teaching load in the fall and spring semesters)
• Contribute to curriculum development
• Contribute to the department, college, and university's mission through assigned service

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in literacy, reading, or curriculum and instruction
• At least 18 graduate hours in literacy education by December 2026
• Evidence of strong teaching at the higher education level
• Minimum of 3 years of PK-12 classroom teaching experience in literacy education
• Working knowledge of Texas Education Agency expectations on teacher preparation

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellence in university teaching in traditional and online environments
• Understanding of the structures of schools and systems
• Commitment to developing collaborative relationships
