Position Information

The University of Texas at San Antonio Department of Chemistry in the College of Sciences invites applications for two Assistant Professors of Instruction, with a focus on biochemistry teaching.

About the role

The successful candidates will teach undergraduate biochemistry courses, including both lecture and lab components. This non-tenure track or Fixed-Term Track (FTT) position offers a dynamic teaching environment, with the majority of the workload focused on instruction (90%) and a small service component (10%). Importantly, there is no research requirement. Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications:

    • A doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a closely related field of study.
    • Demonstrated interest in STEM education (participation in workshops, guest lecturing in courses, etc.).
    • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2 years of teaching experience, as an instructor of record (not as a graduate teaching assistant) in Biochemistry at the collegiate level.
    • Experience using evidence-based and/or active learning teaching methods.
    • Advanced training or work experience in Biochemistry.
    • Advanced training in STEM Education.

Salary Range

$54,000 for a 9 month contract, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications

Posting Close Date

Work Location

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
