About the role

The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana seeks an Assistant Professor of Chemistry.

Primary teaching responsibilities will include organic chemistry and chemistry classes for non-majors such as allied health and general-education students.
Applicants are expected to establish a vigorous research program that involves undergraduates.
Modest start-up funds are available.

Requirements

Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a closely related chemistry discipline is required.
Applicants with ABD status will be considered at the rank of Instructor if the doctoral degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment:
- If employment starts in January 2027, the terminal degree must be completed by December 2026.
- If employment starts in August 2027, the terminal degree must be completed by July 2027.

About the Department

The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department offers ACS-approved chemistry and biochemistry programs, is well equipped with modern instrumentation, and is home to 11 full-time faculty members and approximately 85 undergraduate students. The department also provides support courses for many other programs at the institution.
