Assistant Professor of Chemistry
Faculty position in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at the University of Southern Indiana, a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor role beginning January 2027 or August 2027.
About the role
Primary teaching responsibilities will include organic chemistry and chemistry classes for non-majors, such as allied health and general education students. Applicants are expected to establish a vigorous research program that involves undergraduates. Modest start-up funds are available.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a closely related chemistry discipline is required.
- Applicants with ABD status will be considered at the rank of Instructor if the doctoral degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment.
- If employment starts in January 2027, the terminal degree must be completed by the end of December 2026.
- If employment starts in August 2027, the terminal degree must be completed by the end of July 2027.

About the Department
The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department offers ACS-approved chemistry and biochemistry programs and is well-equipped with modern instrumentation. It is home to 11 full-time faculty members and approximately 85 undergraduate students. The department also provides support courses for many programs at the institution.
