Assistant Professor of Digital Consumer Insights/Strategy
San Diego State University Marketing Department at Fowler College of Business seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in Digital Consumer Insights and Strategy to begin August 18, 2027.
About the role
The Fowler College of Business is one of the nation's oldest and largest AACSB-accredited business schools, with significant regional, national, and international impact. The Marketing Department's faculty are active in research areas including consumer behavior, marketing management, strategy, and sales management, with expertise in experience design, sensory marketing, digital marketing, marketing analytics, societal impact, and sustainability. Their research has appeared in leading journals such as Journal of Marketing, Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, and others.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a vigorous, independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in digital consumer insights and strategy.
- Engage in campus and professional service activities.
- Interact effectively with the business community.
- Demonstrate commitment to teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Marketing or a related field, with all degree requirements completed before the first day of the Fall 2027 semester.
- A record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments.
- Demonstrated capacity to develop a strong research agenda, evidenced by publications in quality, refereed journals, participation in professional conferences, and an active, innovative research agenda.
- Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in digital consumer insights and strategy, including its methodologies.
- Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding.
- Proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research, scholarship, or teaching.
- University-level teaching experience.
- Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession.
- Engagement in service or research with diverse populations in higher education.
- Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU.
Pay
The anticipated salary range is $140,000 to $147,000, based on the current CSU salary schedule. Salary placement will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, with potential for higher offers in limited circumstances.
