Assistant Professor of Digital Consumer Insights/Strategy
San Diego State University's Marketing Department at Fowler College of Business seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in Digital Consumer Insights and Strategy to begin August 18, 2027.

The Fowler College of Business is one of the nation's oldest and largest AACSB-accredited business schools, with significant regional, national, and international impact. The Marketing Department's faculty are active in research areas including consumer behavior, marketing management, strategy, and sales management, with expertise in experience design, sensory marketing, digital marketing, marketing analytics, societal impact, and sustainability.
Their research has appeared in the Journal of Marketing, Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Advertising, and Journal of Public Policy and Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Develop a vigorous and independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses
- Engage in campus and professional service activities
- Interact effectively with the business community
Requirements
- Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria
- Doctorate in Marketing or a related field, with all degree requirements met before the first day of the Fall 2027 semester
- A record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments
- Demonstrated capacity to:
- Develop a vigorous and independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses
- Engage in both campus and professional service activities
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies
- Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding
- Demonstrated proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research, scholarship, or teaching
- University-level teaching experience
- Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession
- Engaged in service or research with different populations in higher education
- Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU
Pay
The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $140,000 to $147,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
