Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics
About the role
Shape the next generation of cybersecurity and digital forensics professionals at Champlain College! We're seeking a dynamic faculty member to join our Division of Information Technology & Sciences (ITS Division), teaching cutting-edge courses in both our Computer Networking & Cybersecurity and Computer & Digital Forensics programs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver four courses per semester through traditional courses, experiential learning opportunities, and supervised student projects
- Develop cutting-edge curriculum reflecting current threat landscapes, forensic techniques, and industry best practices
- Design and maintain hands-on labs using industry-standard tools and platforms
- Integrate real-world case studies and incident scenarios into course content
- Provide academic advising to undergraduate students pursuing cybersecurity and digital forensics careers
- Serve as a mentor to student teams, projects, and cybersecurity clubs
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse learning styles
- Guide students in developing industry-relevant skills and professional practices
- Maintain expertise in evolving cybersecurity threats and investigative techniques through ongoing professional development
- Participate in industry outreach to inform curriculum and create opportunities for students
- Serve on college committees and participate in institutional governance
- Create interdisciplinary learning opportunities with faculty across disciplines
- Contribute to program assessment and represent the college at industry conferences and professional events
Requirements
- Graduate degree in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Computer Science with security focus, or a closely related discipline required (consideration given to bachelor's degree with significant industry accomplishments)
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, or related fields
- Demonstrated expertise in areas such as network security, forensic analysis, malware analysis, incident response, or security operations
- Prior teaching experience at the college level preferred
- Experience with industry-standard tools and platforms
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective student mentoring
Qualifications
