Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Computer Science. The successful candidate will play a vital role in LSUA’s partnership with LSU Online to offer a baccalaureate degree in Computer Science.
About the role
The Assistant Professor of Computer Science will provide high-quality instruction in undergraduate Computer Science and Information Technology (IT) courses, both on campus and online.
Responsibilities
- Develop and teach undergraduate computer science and IT courses in face-to-face and online formats.
- Maintain high standards of instruction and utilize innovative teaching methods to support student success.
- Regularly hold office hours and provide academic support to students in person and electronically.
- Advise students on academic and career planning.
- Participate actively in university committees, meetings, and departmental initiatives.
- Contribute to curriculum development and review processes to ensure alignment with academic goals.
- Engage in scholarly activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, Department Chair, or University Administration.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered if the Ph.D. is completed by the time of hire).
Qualifications
- Experience teaching a wide range of undergraduate computer science and IT courses.
- Demonstrated excellence in classroom and online teaching.
- Familiarity with or experience in online course development and delivery.
- Evidence of engagement in scholarly or professional development activities.
