About the Role

The School of Computing Sciences and Computer Engineering (CSCE) in the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Southern Mississippi is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position based at the University's main campus in Hattiesburg. The School of CSCE offers undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, and Computer Engineering, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate classes in computer science, supporting program growth in artificial intelligence and intelligent systems.
• Develop an externally-funded research program.
• Provide service to the School, College, and University.
• Provide mentorship to graduate students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Demonstrate the potential to establish a high-quality research program, collaborate effectively with others, and excel in teaching.

Skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Evidence of ability to publish high-quality peer-reviewed research and secure external funding.

Preferred Qualifications

• One to three years teaching experience in higher education.
