About the role

The Department of Computer Science at Ithaca College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting August 2026. We seek a dynamic teacher-scholar committed to undergraduate education and to contributing to the continued evolution of our collaborative and forward-looking computer science program. Applicants from all areas of computer science are welcome, with particular encouragement for those specializing in artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, media-focused computation, computer systems, or cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of courses in computer science, including introductory and advanced topics.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new majors and minors in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as publishing research papers, presenting at conferences, and securing external funding.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to foster interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental and college governance processes.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field is required.
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate education and an ability to prepare students professionally through an immersive, interdisciplinary liberal arts education.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a diverse academic community.

Qualifications

  • A recent doctoral candidate (ABD) is also encouraged to apply.
  • A 2-page maximum discussion of your teaching philosophy.
  • A 2-page maximum discussion of your research plan that highlights how you plan to work with undergraduate students.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:

  • An ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
  • An interest in and commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • An ability to mentor and advise students.

Pay

Hiring Range: $80,000 - $85,000, dependent on discipline, qualifications and experience.
